Monday Motivation: The Kitchen is Where it Counts

There are so many phrases about a home and the way to a person’s heart that have been written and repeated over time. One thing realtors will always tell you is the kitchen and master bathroom is where the money is at. This is where you should focus any of your remodeling budget during the time you live in your house and when you are preparing to sell it.

Why is the kitchen so important? Because, this is where you will gather with friends and family and make delicious cuisine. Even if you aren’t a chef it’s the central meeting point for the house and it’s occupants. This is the food source. The place you store your wine or other libations. Which leads to why this room should be fresh and make you feel good.

Make Your House Pop with Curbside Appeal

Let’s talk about curbside appeal and how to make your house pop. You can have a five star landscaping job but faded paint and your house will blend into the background or worse, look shabby. If being the house that everyone talks about in a bad way isn’t on your radar, then consider the difference a great paint job can do for your curbside appeal.

Check out the before photo for one of our client’s houses:

The Exterior Painting Process:

It all starts with the surface preparation. If the surface is not properly prepared, it will have a direct effect on the longevity of the paint application. At Next Door Painting, we take great pride in ensuring that the exterior of your home is properly prepared before there is any application of products. Here is a breakdown of how your surface area will be prepared and how the paint will be applied to your exterior.

1.Thoroughly power wash entire exterior surface

2. Seal all cracks in exterior stucco and wood

3. Repair any damaged masonry areas (Retexturing chipped comers, etc.

4. Thoroughly scrape loose and peeling paint from the exterior (Anything the power wash missed)

6. Prime any areas of bare wood

7. Spray the exterior house body (Usually stucco)

8. Brush the home’s trim (Facia boards, doors, door frames, etc.)
